Kindergarten

Our bright and spacious Kindergarten is situated on the first floor, providing wonderful areas for our 3 to 5 year olds. Within the Kindergarten a great deal of thought and planning is used to ensure our children enjoy active learning in a caring, safe and nurturing environment, with plenty of fun and games throughout the day!

Open spaces.

Our open spaces help stimulate our children’s imagination, enhance their creativity, inspire curiosity and encourage all aspects of development and learning in our supported environment. We’re lucky enough to have distinct areas within our kindergarten, with a playroom, art room, quiet zone and a dedicated climbing walls gymnasium, which even has a fireman's pole! Our dining room provides a calm and peaceful place to eat, where our children are encouraged to set the table and tuck into a nutritious and delicious lunch. Yum!

“I really feel so fortunate to have found a nursery that treats every child as an individual.” — Kelda McLean

Environments.

Our skilled practitioners are on hand to help our young children make sensible choices about their day. We encourage our children to try new experiences both indoors and outdoors, within our safe, stimulating and highly our supported environments. Although our kindergarten children are older, there’s still plenty of time for play, cuddles, love and affection!

Our team.

Our highly qualified and skilled educators challenge, nurture and support our children in their day to day care and learning. Our children are very much encouraged to discuss and plan their own learning, with our teachers on hand to extend their thinking and understanding. We love to celebrate our children's successes and share their achievements with 'Wow Moments', day to day feedback, hugs and plenty of high fives!

Creativity.

Within our Kindergarten we place a huge emphasis on encouraging curiosity and creativity to extend our children's thinking and understanding. We recently partnered with Glasgow Caledonian University in an innovative research study that looked at the impact of a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) based creative intervention for pre-school children. This June we were able to share our findings with the Highlands and Islands Council at their Creativity Matters Conference, an event designed to aid the delivery of Scotland's Creative Learning Plan. We are passionate about encouraging creativity at Acorn Park and you’ll find our children are too.
