Where

Acorn Park is situated within a double fronted Georgian Townhouse in the Park area of Glasgow. Our children benefit from a wealth of space over three floors as well as private gardens to explore. Our babies are cared for in our south facing lower ground floor, our toddlers play on our ground floor and our older children have the 'run' of our first. Our second floor houses our free parent Hot Desking space, visitors lounge and new parents room. We would love to show you and your little one around, feel free to visit us any time.

“My son has made amazing bonds with staff and I can see how much they love and nurture him.” — Tessa Gallacher

Beginnings

Acorn Park was established in 1988 by Mary McDonald with the firm belief that in order for children to reach their full potential they need to feel safe, loved, cared for and happy. This belief has always been at the heart of all we do! In 1993 after completing her primary school teaching degree, Mary’s daughter Vari joined Acorn Park, initially for a year, however, she has been there ever since! Over the years, they have built an excellent reputation, providing babies and children with the best possible start in life. Our children are happy and content within their environment, enjoying each new day and the variety of experiences available to them.

Parklife

Our children play outdoors everyday in our private park, no matter the weather! We believe outdoor play positively effects self esteem, physical health, learning and language skills, which is why we place such importance on our outdoor environment. We also encourage green fingers. Our children can learn about positive environmental messages at play and within our allotment and courtyard gardens. For our babies exploring outdoors we have staff facing double prams which not only allow our little ones to feel safe and secure but also help foster wonderful attachments with our team.

Happy Days

The happiness and wellbeing of our children and families is our number one priority. Our environment is a calm one, offering comfort, responsive care and support. From our littlest babies to our oldest children, you will see adults who champion your little ones play and learning by providing love, affection and of course plenty of cuddles.

Our team

We firmly believe the skills, knowledge, attitudes and qualifications of our practitioners are vitally important in providing the very best start for all our children. Almost all our team are qualified; some to degree level. We have a qualified Additional Support Teacher to guide and assist those children and families that have additional needs, ensuring each and every child is able to thrive in our warm, secure and loving environment. Most importantly our practitioners are chosen for their love of children, their enthusiasm, their kindness and their compassion. Our adult to child ratios are above those required by The National Care Standards allowing for all our children to be fully supported in our care. Finally, we don’t wear uniform. This is to ensure our environment is as homely as possible and allow our personalities to shine through.
